What is Paint Protection Film (PPF)?
Paint Protection Film (PPF) is a clear, thermoplastic urethane film applied to the painted surfaces of a vehicle to protect them from stone chips, bug splatters, minor abrasions, and other forms of damage. It acts as a barrier between the car’s paint and the elements, providing an additional layer of defense against wear and tear. PPF is designed to be transparent, allowing the original color and finish of the vehicle to show through while providing durable protection. It’s often applied to areas prone to damage, such as the front bumper, hood, fenders, side mirrors, and door edges, but can also cover the entire vehicle for comprehensive protection.

FAQ:
How long does paint protection film last, and what’s the warranty?
High-quality protective wrap (PPF) typically lasts 5–10+ years depending on sun exposure, driving, and care. Our PPF in Auckland comes with a manufacturer-backed warranty (term depends on film series) plus our workmanship guarantee, both provided in writing.
Which areas should I protect first—what package is right for me?
For daily drivers, Full Front (bumper, bonnet, guards, mirrors) stops most road rash. If you do lots of motorway or spirited drives, consider Full Paint. For city parking, our City/High-Touch package (doors and rear bumper top) prevents door-edge and loading scuffs. We’ll recommend a package after a quick assessment.
How do I care for PPF after installation?
Avoid washing for 48–72 hours while the film cures; don’t pressure-wash edges for 1–2 weeks. Wash with pH-neutral shampoo and a soft mitt, no abrasives. Avoid cutting compounds. This keeps the film clear and performing as a heat- and chip-resistant protective wrap. Here is more in-detail guide.
How long does a PPF install take—do I need to leave the car?
Allow half day for small kits, 2-3 days for Full Front, and 5-7 days for Full Paint (prep, install, overnight cure, quality check). We’ll confirm exact timing when you book at our East Tāmaki workshop in PPF Auckland.
Can you install PPF on repainted panels, and is removal safe?
Yes—if the repaint is fully cured and well bonded. We’ll test adhesion first. High-quality protective wrap removes cleanly from OEM paint using controlled heat; older resprays or poor repairs have a higher lift risk, which we’ll flag before proceeding.
