Installations
Graphics and alignment as applied to vehicle may not be precisely matched to the digital images (“proofs”) produced for customer’s review. Graphics applied to vehicles are intended to be viewed from a distance of at least twenty feet and HL Wrap produces each vehicle graphic with the detail and quality appropriate for viewing from such distance. HL Wrap expressly disclaims all warranties regarding paint jobs on non-standard OEM (original equipment manufacturer) cars and trucks. HLWrap expressly disclaims all warranties on buses, planes, trains, RVs, custom vehicles, and vehicles with OEM paint that is more than 6 years old. If we are asked to cover existing vinyl decals, we cannot be liable for any damage caused during the installation or removal process to these decals. HL Wrap is not liable if during the installation of a wrap the clear coat/paint of the car begins to peel off or in the future after installation.
Although we try to make the wrap look like a paint job, it is NOT paint. There may be extreme curves and bumps such as rivets and deep channel curves and moldings on the vehicle that the vinyl will not be able to conform to. In some small areas you will see evidence of the original color of the vehicle below the wrap. These may be small areas such as around door handles and the edges of the lights on the vehicles.
Our goal with colour film is to apply and install to where went door, boot, or trunk is closed (in a driving condition) and you will not see any original colour paint showing, however sometimes the recess or curves area might be too deep that we might need apply a small patch/seam to make it look better. We will usually discuss this before installation to make sure you understand the expectation.
Vehicle wraps are designed on a 2 dimensional template. Since we are printing and installing on a 3 dimensional surface, small variations from proof are normal. This is due to compound curves, indents, recesses, body lines, rivets, etc of the vehicle. B. Seams & Overlaps; Wraps are printed on 54” wide material. Since most vehicles are larger than 54”, seems and overlaps may be necessary. This is a normal part of the wrap process.
Material Characteristics (Important to Read)
Vinyl wrap is a thin, flexible film. Due to the nature of the material:
- Slight texture variations, grain, or “vinyl sheen” are normal.
- Light stretch marks may appear on curved or heavily contoured panels.
- Minor lifting around edges/complex shapes may occur over period of time.
- Areas around aerials, shark fins, washers and sensors may show small seams or relief cuts.
These characteristics are considered normal for vinyl wrapping and are not defects. (if you prefer to avoid this, its best to go for colour PPF as it is a thicker film compared to Vinyl)
Cosmetic Tolerance Clause
Due to the nature of vinyl film, minor cosmetic characteristics are considered normal and acceptable within industry standards. These include, but are not limited to:
- Small dust specks or micro-particles trapped under film
- Slight texture variations or grain differences
- Minor stretch lines on curved or contoured surfaces
- Small glue lines around edges, trims, antenna/shark fin areas
- Minor tension marks that do not affect durability or adhesion
These are not considered workmanship defects and do not qualify for refunds, rewraps, or compensation.
Surface & Dust Conditions
HLWrap operates in a clean, controlled environment; however:
- Small dust specks or micro-particles may occasionally appear under the vinyl.
- These are industry-accepted tolerances and do not affect durability or performance.
Dust-free perfection is not achievable with any vinyl wrap installer in real-world conditions.
Repairs & Tolerance
Minor cosmetic characteristics such as:
- light texture differences
- small stretch marks
- dust specks
- slight glue lines around edges
are not considered workmanship faults and do not qualify for refunds. If a repair is possible, HLWrap will offer solutions based on feasibility and industry standards.
Refunds & Complaints
Refunds are not provided for issues that fall within normal vinyl wrap tolerances. Complaints regarding:
- natural vinyl texture
- expected stretch behaviour
- minor particles
- material limitations
Do not qualify for refunds or free rewraps. HLWrap may, at our discretion, offer a goodwill solution if we believe it is reasonable. Threats, pressure, or abusive communication will not influence decisions.
Commercial Wraps/Colour Wraps
A commercial vehicle wrap uses vertical panels of vinyl that are 137.16 cm wide. The panels have seams that are 2.54 cm where they meet. Due to the extreme curves on vehicles, HL Wrap cannot guarantee 100% alignment of complex designs with many matching points. A 5% margin of error is considered acceptable for large outdoor advertising projects. Proofs are created on a flat surface and viewed at a small size on computer screens and 20.32 cm printed paper. Adjustments may be made by the installer to ensure maximum readability or alignment, especially around curves, handles, deep grooves, and rubber moldings/trim.
There may be slight differences between the flat paper proof and the 3-dimensional vehicle wrap due to the nature of applying a two-dimensional print to a three-dimensional surface and minor variances in template accuracy. Vinyl has stretching limits and can change color if overstretched. In some cases, a relief cut must be made, revealing a small amount of the original vehicle paint under the vinyl, or a patch may need to be installed to cover the original color. Areas under door handles, mirrors, behind gas caps, and inside door frames will not be wrapped. For extremely curved surfaces like mirrors and bumpers, the original paint color may show at the edges of the wrap due to material limitations, not the quality of the installation.
If we are installing at the customer’s nominated location, suitable conditions must exist. Vehicles need to be indoors, in a clean, dust free temperature-controlled environment, with a power supply and good quality lighting. With a minimum of 1.524 meters working space around the entire vehicle. Wraps are self-adhesive vinyl that will only adhere well to catalyzed vehicle paint and glass. Poor surface paint or clear coats will not allow the vinyl adhesive to stick properly, and the adhesive may fail. Extreme curves and deep pockets may exceed the limits of how far the material can stretch. Again, this is not paint it is a special pressure sensitive vinyl material.
HLWrap cannot be held responsible for any damage void of vehicle warrantee or anything caused through the application of the vinyl products. HL Wrap is not liable if during the installation of a wrap the clear coat/paint of the car begins to peel off or in the future after installation. Original painted vehicles will not have any problems with the clear coat peeling off. It’s not a good idea to rush the install process many things can go wrong. HL Wrap reserves the right to take an additional day.
The wrap material that is used for vehicle wraps, does not stick very well to plastic or rubber parts such as window trims, side plastic moldings and plastic door handles. It is advised that these areas NOT be wrapped with adhesive vinyl. Initially the vinyl will stick, but over a short period of time such as a few months, the vinyl will fall off these areas. In most cases of vinyl lifting, if it is a material’s problem the lifting will present itself in the first few weeks after the initial installation. In most cases it is advised that the vehicle wrap be fixed so that the vinyl does not continue to peel back and become contaminated.
It is not uncommon to see small areas of the wrap lifting soon after the installation is complete. Several factors can affect the vinyl’s adhesive’s ability to stick to the vehicle surface. Here are a few: If the surface is not prepared properly before the wrap, then the adhesive can fail to stick overtime. Extreme temperatures can affect the vinyl adhesive. Very cold or very hot temperatures. Extreme humidity in the air during installation can affect the adhesive. Dust in the air during installation.
You do not want to rush the installers because this type of work is all done by hand, and it takes time to install the vinyl with perfect placement.
Badge, & Decal Removal
Badge and decal removal may cause the paint to be damaged. By authorizing us to proceed with removal, the customer hereby acknowledges the risks and waives any claims against us and agrees that we will not be liable in the event that damage does occur during the removal process.
Vehicle Wrap Removal
Vehicle wraps should be replaced every 2 to 3 years. Leading vinyl manufacturers like 3M and Avery recommend this timeframe to ensure clean removal. However, many companies leave the vinyl on their vehicles for too long to maximize marketing exposure, leading to cracking. This is not advisable. As soon as you notice the vinyl beginning to crack, it is a sign that the wrap should be removed and rewrapped if necessary.
Horizontal surfaces like the roof and front hood endure extreme sun and heat damage. If vinyl remains on these surfaces for more than three years, the sun can bake it into the paint. Most vehicle wrap vinyl materials are guaranteed to be cleanly removable from vertical surfaces for up to three years when applied to original car paint. If you notice the vinyl on the roof or front hood starting to crack, this indicates sun and heat damage, which means the vinyl has been baked into the vehicle’s paint. In this case, removing the vinyl may cause paint damage, as it will likely peel off in small pieces.
When vinyl has exceeded its clean removability term, paint damage may be unavoidable, and HL Wrap will not be liable for any resulting paint damage. Additionally, if there were stripes on the vehicle before the new wrap, the adhesive from the old vinyl may have weakened from sun exposure, causing the stripes to lift during wrap removal. HL Wrap is not responsible if old stripes come off during this process. If we wrap over existing vinyl strips or letters, the new wrap is thin enough that the old vinyl underneath will be visible.
All removals are quoted separately. Wrap removal can be very time consuming and we charge by the meter and by the hour for the labor. HL Wrap cannot be held responsible for any paint damage or existing striping damage when we do a removal. HL Wrap will not be held responsible in anyway if the customer is not happy because the existing graphics were not able to be removed using conventional methods of removal.
HL Wrap does not use steel or metal knives during the removal process. Instead, we use plastic tools to avoid damaging the vehicle’s surface. HL Wrap avoids unconventional vinyl graphics removal methods that could harm the vehicle, such as cutting, scraping, or using harsh chemicals. For extremely old or burnt wraps, these methods might be necessary, but they risk damaging the paint. In some extreme cases where the wrap has been on the vehicle for over three years, the wrap might become non-removable, requiring the vehicle to go to a body shop for sanding and repainting.
We cannot be responsible for any damage that occurs during vinyl removal and do not recommend applying a wrap on resprayed surfaces or poor quality/rusted paintwork. Our experience shows that removing vinyl designed for vehicle wraps from good quality, factory- original paintwork does not damage the paint. However, it is the vehicle owner’s responsibility to ensure the suitability of the existing surface before it is wrapped.
If HL Wrap is asked to remove pre-installed vinyl by another company, we will make every effort to remove it but cannot be held responsible for any surface damage that occurs. This is because not all pre-installed vinyl is designed to be removable, and in many cases, it is non- removable.
Removal Policy
Vinyl removal is a separate service and is not included in wrap installation fees.
If removal is requested, HLWrap will provide a quote based on: panel size, material types, time required.
Warranty on Colour Film
The vinyl that is applied to original vehicle paint is warranted against adhesive failure and image quality or colour fading for up to 2 years using our supplied brand. Please note that vertical surface (anything below 10 degree) is up to 2 years and horizontal surface (anything above 10 degree) is 1 year only. The perforated window material is warranted for up to 1 years.

Paint Protection Film: Additional Terms, Conditions and Warranty Disclaimer
About Paint Protection Film
Paint protection film is range from 6.5 mil to 10 mil film designed to protect your vehicle’s paint from most rock chips and light scratches. It is manufacture warranted for 3-5 years from yellowing, cracking, blistering. There is no warranty if film gets damaged in accident or from debris.
Drying Time
Your new paint protection film will take 3-4 weeks to fully cure depending on weather conditions. Do not wash your vehicle for 7 days. Never use high pressure near the seams of your PPF.
Condition of Vehicle for Paint Protection Film Installation
Factory paint is not perfect. Your new car more than likely has several blemishes, drips, runs, nibs that may visually affect the looks of the install once PPF is applied. The customer waives and releases us from any damage claims where PPF has been applied to a non-OEM paint surface.
Paint
Paint may lift on repainted panels/OEM paint if improperly prepped and painted. By authorizing us to proceed with the install, the customer herby acknowledges the risks and waives any claims against us and agrees that we will not be liable in an event that damage does occur during the installation process. Occasionally during the installation, a piece of film may need to be removed and redone. In an event that the paint is damaged in the process we are not liable.
Paint Chips
PPF is to prevent your vehicle from future rock chip damage. PPF installation over rock chips may look like contamination after the install due to the unevenness of the paint surface.
Installation
Pre-cut kits involve stopping short of edges around badges, and other parts. PPF is a sacrificial layer and not completely invisible.
Expose Edges and Seams
Debris build up over time on exposed edges/seams will be more visible on light-coloured vehicles. We recommend ceramic coating your vehicle to reduce debris build up. There is no warranty or reapplication of film due to debris build up.
Badge, & Decal Removal
Badge and decal removal may cause the paint to be damaged. By authorizing us to proceed with removal, the customer hereby acknowledges the risks and waives any claims against us and agrees that we will not be liable in the event that damage does occur during the removal process.
Imperfections
Though we strive for perfection in our installations, due to the nature of the product and environment, some degree of dust contamination and or minor imperfections may be present in every PPF application, also pre-existing flaws, scratches, and rock chips on the paint are often much more noticeable after the PPF is installed. PPF may have minor imperfections like orange peel, small nibs, and bubbles. Used and older vehicles will have more imperfections due to age.
Matte Paint
Due to the nature of your vehicles Matte Paint Finish we are unable to Compound or Polish the vehicle to remove any imperfections prior to coating, this will result in those imperfections being covered by the Ceramic Coating(s) or PPF, essentially “locking them in”.
Due to the Matt Paint Finish not being able to be compounded or polished, HL Wrap does not offer a warranty on coatings or PPF applied to Matte Paint as there is no way to safely remove the coatings without damaging the matte finish. Should any part of the vehicle ever need to be re-coated for any reason, it is to be understood that the part would need to be repainted or replaced with a new part prior to the recoating.
Ceramic Coatings: Additional Terms, Conditions and Warranty Disclaimer
This disclaimer is to serve notice that you the customer understand that Ceramic Coatings are scratch resistant, they are not scratch proof. Any scratches, swirls, chips, or other types of physical damage caused by any type of abrasion can happen and are not covered by any warranty. We offer a few different brands of ceramic coatings, and each brand has its own manufacture warranty.
Drying & Curing times
The first 24 hours after your vehicle is coated is considered the drying time. We will hold onto your vehicle during this time as it is crucial that it does not see environmental contamination or rain during this time. Once dry your vehicle is safe to leave our shop and drive. It will continue to cure; full cure time is 14 days from application. During the 14-day curing time it is crucial that you do not wash your vehicle with any chemicals. In the event bird droppings gets on the vehicle you can safely remove them with a silica waterless wash, or water, and microfiber towel. In the event sap, tar, or other harsh products get on your vehicle we ask that you bring the vehicle to us, and we can remove these safely and treat any of the affected surfaces as needed.
Ceramic Coatings On Your Wheels
If any brake dust or other contaminants are on your wheels it is advised to clean it off as soon as possible to prevent stains from occurring. It is to be understood that the longer something sits on a vehicles wheel, even if coated, the wheel can become stained, and that stain or discoloration may not be able to be removed and that no warranty provided covers staining of your wheels or re-coating of your wheels.
Glass Coatings
Glass, although in a solid state, is still a porous surface. A Coating on your glass is intended for the functional purpose of keeping your windows easier to clean and improve visibility in bad weather. It is not applied with the intent of protecting from chips, cracks, or etchings of any kind. Glass coating maintenance: Cleaning can be done by the end user with any Ammonia free glass cleaner.
Window Tints Car/Residential/Commercial : Additional Terms, Conditions and Warranty Disclaimer
What you should know before getting your windows tinted.
Disclaimer: This list is not written to scare you away from getting your windows tinted but help to keep you informed.
Window Tint is designed to be looked at from 5 feets away, not 6 inches, while window tint looks nice its main function is not for cosmetic purposes the majority of the time. Window film blocks 98-99% of UVA/UVB rays and can reduce heat up to 90%. There will be some dust specks on a few windows, which is normal as we always try our hardest to keep dirt from contaminating the film we cannot stop all the little particles in the air.
Imperfections are normal in the first 4 weeks including hazing, moisture, bubbles, etc. Do not touch the film if you see any of these imperfections because it can make it worse and will cause damage that isn’t included in your warranty.
A Dot Matrix comes on some vehicles from the factory. They are little iron dots that can push away the tint from the window. We do have different options available if this is a cosmetic concern for you.
On some makes/models the window seals are so tight that we cannot always get the film to “tuck” in on the very sides this is sometimes an issue with foreign vehicles and may result in additional charges for additional time.
On framed roll up windows you will have a slight gap at the top. The film cannot go all the way to the top as it may peal.
All film includes a warranty specifc on HL Wrap that protects from fading, peeling, discoloring, bubbling, and any other type of defect of the film. The following is not covered under warranty; any type of damage that you inflict to the window or film, this includes but isn’t limited to: breakage, stickers, sharp object damage, seat belts, rings, animals, etc.
Window Tint Instructions
Drying period- Your tint will take about 2 to 3 weeks to fully dry and cure. Your tinted windows may appear hazy or lumpy, and it may seem to have water bubbles.
Please do not roll your windows down for 3-5 days or try to push the water out until dry! The front and rear windshield will be the most noticeable, just let it dry and cure
Cleaning
Do not use anything that contains ammonia. Do not use any chemicals, scrapers, scrubber pads to clean window tint. We recommend anything that is SAFE FOR TINTED WINDOWS cleaning spray, soapy water and soft paper towels are the best option.
Imperfections
Due to the nature of the product, some degree of dust contamination and or minor imperfections are present in every window film application. Pre-existing flaws or scratches and metal deposits on the glass are often more noticeable after the windows are tinted. Although we strive for the best result possible, contaminants do end up on the film. This is unavoidable and very common.
Electrical Issues After Install
Modern vehicles are equipped with numerous electrical components. While we take every precaution to avoid damage during the tinting process, the application of water to the windows carries inherent risks. This may expose the electrical systems to moisture and water runoff. Windshield installations are especially critical, as water runoff behind the dashboard can potentially damage the vehicle’s Electronic Control Unit (ECU) or other electrical components.
HL Wrap cannot be held responsible for any damages that may occur to these electrical systems during or after the tinting process. We encourage you to discuss any concerns you may have and ask questions before proceeding with the installation, ensuring that you fully understand the associated risks. Our team will be happy to address any inquiries you may have and provide the necessary information to help you make an informed decision.
Please note that by proceeding with the installation, you acknowledge and accept the risks involved with the tinting process and release HL Wrap from any liability regarding potential electrical system damages.
If you have any further questions or concerns, we are here to assist you and provide the necessary guidance.
Dot Matrix
Most cars have a black ceramic edge on the top of the window. Sometimes this edge is straight and flat, sometimes it will have a dotted edge. These areas are thick and prevent the window film from sticking to the area between the dots. The results in a blurry looking strip on the glass

To maintain warranty coverage, the customer must:

- Avoid ammonia-based cleaners and abrasive tools

Failure to meet these responsibilities may void the warranty.

Window Tints Car/Residential/Commercial – Terms and Conditions
DO NOT LOWER YOUR TINTED WINDOWS FOR 3-5 DAYS
DO NOT CLEAN WINDOW FILM UNTIL 30 DAYS AFTER INSTALLATION.
Must be TINT-SAFE, AMMONIA-FREE glass cleaners or MILD DETERGENT and WATER using a soft microfiber cloth.
Complete DRY-OUT time, including trapped moisture, water bubbles and cloudy-look take as long as 30 to 60 days after installation to dissipate.
Customers accept all liability for tints darker than the legal limit of 35% on driver and passenger windows and on all sedans or mini SUVs. Also, by proceeding with the window tinting service, the customer acknowledges and accepts full responsibility for the legality of the tinted windshield/windows, understanding that such tinting may not comply with New Zealand’s Warrant of Fitness (WoF) requirements and could render the vehicle ineligible for WoF certification.
Barely visible seams, borders and dust specks are considered QUALITY WORK.
There would be a small slight gap at residential/commercial glasses as this prevent film pealing, and allow water to escape during the installation process for a more cleaner install.
Seams will be used wherever glass curve dictates. (For residential or commercial glasses if glass is larger than 1.52 M then seams will require to join the film as film can only manufacture up to 1.52 M in width.)
Rubber strips will be removed wherever necessary when glass clearance is required.
Decals will be removed unless other instructions are given.
HL Wrap is not responsible for any malfunctions of the rear defroster or wires.
HL Wrap does not assume responsibility for scratches on windows.
Defects caused by tampering, removal of tint, unauthorized alterations or repairs initiated by customer are not covered under our warranty and is automatically voided.
HL Wrap Warranty’s and Further Disclaimers
HL Wrap Installation Warranty
This one-month workmanship warranty covers our installation work only. This does not include damage done by you or another individual, wear and tear, or mistreatment of the wrap. This only includes damage found that is from improper installation. This includes lifting, peeling, and bubbling due to installation errors.
Door handles as a high wear and tear area will only be warranty once unless an issue is found directly after installation.
This warranty does not apply to metal, plastic, matte, or satin surfaces, non-painted primed vehicles, or repainted vehicles as we cannot guarantee the quality of the paintwork underneath to match the quality of our installation on top of it.
Warranty on Labor and Materials
HL Wrap offers a one-year warranty on the material applied to the windows unless specified and two year on the cast laminated adhesive vinyl, applied to vertical surface areas ONLY or unless specified. One year warranty on horizontal direct sun exposure such as roofs and front hoods unless specified. Anything over 10 degrees vertical to horizontal is considered horizontal. Any peeling within a month for cast laminated adhesive vinyl can be redone by us. The wrap warranty will depend upon the customer’s care of the vehicle and the outdoor/geographic conditions. If you ever see the vinyl cracking, replace the vinyl immediately. We recommend hand washing only. Avoid high pressure, power washing and be careful never to use an ice scraper on window graphics. Also avoid harsh chemicals of any kind as they can deteriorate the laminate on the vinyl adhesive. Sweeping or brushing off the windows with a soft broom and the use of a rear defroster will not damage your window wrap. There are specially designed products to clean and polish vinyl graphics if needed. Please wait at least 1 week before washing your vehicle once applied.
Warranty on Third Party Work
HL Wrap may offer some services through a third party. HL Wrap does not provide any warranty services that a customer has agreed for us to arrange through a third party. Refund / Goodwill Policy
Because vinyl wrapping is a custom service, refunds are generally not offered unless required by law.
However, at HLWrap’s sole discretion, a goodwill refund or partial refund may be offered to resolve a customer concern. Any goodwill refund:
- Is not an admission of fault
- Does not set a precedent
- Does not include removal unless stated otherwise
- Requires the customer to accept the refund as full and final resolution
Goodwill resolutions are offered case-by-case.
Rewrap and Removal Policy
Rewraps requested due to personal preference, colour dissatisfaction, or characteristics listed under Cosmetic Tolerances are chargeable at standard rates.
Vinyl removal is a separate service and not included in any refund, warranty, or goodwill gesture unless explicitly stated by HLWrap.
